Nothing to see here, just great looking body on frame 4x4 wagon with solid rear axle, 2-speed transfer case and turbo diesel. Made by Ford.

For the South American market?

This ad was specifically for Australia, but I suspect South America, Most of Africa and Russia too.

Man why don't we get the good stuff? That'd make a sweet Explorer

My first thought exactly.

I mean the new Explorer looks decent for what it is, but it's too bloated and round to be an Explorer

And it has no real off road chops, and can’t be made to. Even with some of the quality issues of old Explorers, they can be made into pretty cool rigs.

True. At least they're body-on-frame.

Only the good parts of South America, in shitty Brazil we get diddly squat. Just this awful pile of plastic awfulness.

I know that feel.

What happened to the whole “world platform” stuff Ford was talking about a couple years back where all of their cars were supposed to be the same all over the world? They need to bring this and the Ranger to the US. This Everest deal could easily replace the way outdated Expedition.

I think the trouble is that its right in between the expedition and explorer in size, but really, how hard would it be to adapt it to be slightly bigger? Im for it.

True. But is anyone actually buying the Expedition anymore? I never see them on the road. Maybe it’s just that they’re too indistinguishable from any other Expedition made in the last 10 years, I don’t know. It just seems like no one besides Phil Mickelson has bought one (and that was just a 1:43 scale model :P). I feel like it would be a smart business move of Ford to drop that dead weight and replace it with something fresh and new and awesome like the Everest.

EDIT: I’m a dumbass. I looked up the specs on it and found it’s actually built on the same platform as the Ranger. It looks deceptively big, so I was thinking it was more along the scale of a Land Cruiser. Apparently it’s closer to the 4 Runner. Either way, this thing is awesome and needs to be sold in the U.S.
